Ive Šubic (1922-1989)
For his paintings exhibited at the Gallery of the Škofja Loka Museum in 1967

The painter Ive Šubic had been developing his own visual universe ever since his beginnings with the Partisans. His topics covered the local Poljanska valley, the landscape and its people in various moods, but especially the motifs from the National Liberation Struggle. It was with these very works, created as a memory of what he experienced in the war, that Šubic gained recognition as an artist of deeply felt, lyrical partisan motifs, conveyed in an organic monumentality of the folk art.
