In the field of painting, the artworks of Marij Pregelj speak for one of the most prominent artists in Slovenia. The expressive form of his illustrations, paintings and decorative-monumental art fully reflects his tendency towards encyclopaedic treatment of the given substance. The elements of modern and ancient Roman art contained in his works are transformed by means of new compositional balances of emotive and intellectual structures. Pregelj created images of a new stylistic value of persuasive suggestiveness. He is a representative of problem-oriented developmental art concepts of eruptive expressive power.
